Nutrition and Migraine Management: Evidence-Based Dietary Considerations

By Lex Darrow, Lead Editor, MigraClarity

Nutrition advice for migraine tends to fall into two unhelpful extremes: long avoidance lists assembled from anecdote more than evidence, and supplement-aisle claims with little regard for what clinical trials actually show. Between them is a smaller set of interventions with genuine clinical trial support — none of them a cure, all reasonable to discuss with a treating clinician.

Each has its own dedicated article covering the mechanism, the dosing, and the evidence in depth.

The Evidence-Based Interventions

Putting This Into Practice

These interventions are low-risk relative to pharmacological options, but they aren't a substitute for medical treatment when it's indicated, and most need a two-to-three-month trial before you can tell whether they're actually helping. Keeping a Migraine Diary covers how to track your response.
